Thursday, December 11 |
OVERVIEW The Department of Labor has recently (on November 14) issued the first major update to the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) since the law was first introduced in 1993. The new rules are effective in mid-January, and affect all employers who are covered by the regulation. On Thursday, December 11, SDA will host a morning workshop that includes a briefing on the new regulations plus a review of FMLA compliance obligations. This workshop will be helpful to FMLA "veterans" and "newbies" alike. A continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. The workshop will convene at 8:30 a.m., and adjourn at Noon. Cost is $75 for SDA members, and $100 for non-members. Advance reservations are required. To register, call the SDA (585-1007), or click here for a form that may be completed and returned by fax. Karen Tyner of Ford & Harrison LLP will lead this briefing. Karen is one of the Upstate's leading experts on the FMLA. Her work with clients provides insight on how best to administer this complex law. HIGHLIGHTS
