In mid-January, the federal government issued a new FMLA Final Rule. The new rule adds to the responsibilities of employers in their ongoing efforts to comply with this very complex employment law.

Details of the new rule, plus a thorough review of FMLA obligations, compliance strategies, and other issues will be presented at a one-day intensive workshop scheduled Wednesday, March 17, at Thornblade Club in Greer.

The Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce and the Spartanburg Development Association are hosts for this workshop.

Mike Shetterly and Stephen Woods, attorneys with the Ogletree Deakins Law Firm’s Greenville office, will lead this workshop. Mike and Stephen are highly regarded by members of the Upstate HR community. Their reputations for quality, clarity, and practicality are well deserved.

Participants will be given in-depth, but practical, information that can immediately improve understanding of the complexities of the FMLA. Workshop leaders will stress practical, cost-effective methods for being sure that your organization’s policies and practices are in compliance with the current regulations.

Workshop registration and a continental breakfast will begin at 8 a.m. The workshop will convene at 8:30 a.m., and adjourn at 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Cost is $145 per person. Advance pre-paid reservations are required.
